PORTLAND, Ore. and CAMPBELL, Calif., Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- InFocus® Corporation, the industry pioneer in digital projection technology, today announced a major enhancement to its wireless solution that eliminates the need to have wired connections between laptops and select InFocus projectors, with support for Mac OS and audio.

Based on wireless technology from Wisair, a leading provider of single-chip based UWB and Wireless USB solutions, the InFocus DisplayLink™ Wireless system, allows presenters to easily connect to InFocus DisplayLink-enabled projectors and share HD content on the big screen without wires.

Successfully launched in August 2009 with initial support for Windows OS platforms, the system is now made available for MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air platforms with audio support. These enhancements enable broader deployment of the InFocus DisplayLink Wireless system to educational and additional markets, where Mac platforms are widely used.

MacBook platforms do not have VGA or HDMI connectors, which are the most common connectors in Projectors. For a complete audio-video experience today, Mac users need to connect at least 3 cable adapters: (1) a mini-DisplayPort or mini-DVI to VGA adapter cable (2) a VGA cable that connects to the projector for the video and (3) yet another cable for the audio.

The new InFocus wireless solution allows Mac users to transfer video, audio and also the projector's control, via a single wireless link with a single adapter that connects to a USB port, available in ALL MacBook platforms.

The system will be available with Mac OS support at the end of March 2010.

User's Benefits:

-- Convenience - travelling salespeople, teachers and lecturers using Mac
mobile platforms are no longer bound to projectors by cables and no
longer require a bunch of wires for audio and video connectivity - this
along with the projector control are transferred over the wireless link
with an adapter that connects to a USB port on the Mac platform.
-- Simplicity - the Wireless DisplayLink adapter contains all the necessary
software in an onboard Flash driver, supporting a true plug and project
experience. Both Wireless DisplayLink adapters are powered via the USB
connectors so no external power is required.
-- Flexibility - Because they are about the size of your average USB thumb
drive, they'll fit into any briefcase, laptop bag or accessory pouch.
Both male and female adapters are designed to connect and rotate to
three different positions for maximum flexibility in tight spaces.
-- Performance - with a one-to-one connection between any MacBook and
InFocus DisplayLink enabled projector, the Wireless DisplayLink adapters
provide crisp and clear images delivered with fast and reliable Ultra
Wide Band (UWB) technology.
-- Complete - enjoy presentations, video and online content projection with
audio playback on the projector's built-in speakers for complete audio
visual experience. In addition, the system supports the InFocus laptop
control application, enabling users to control the projector over the
wireless link without the need to physically access the projector.
-- Security - the USB compliant adapters have a proprietary relationship
and are factory pre-paired to ensure secure transmissions over a 128 bit
encryption protocol - project seamlessly and securely.
Wireless System's key features:

-- Point to point wireless connectivity based on reliable UWB radio link
-- Universal solution for MacBook platforms with an adapter that connects
to a USB port for audio, video and control
-- Connectivity from anywhere in the boardroom, classroom or lecture hall,
from distances of up to 30 ft
-- Pre-paired adapters (MacBook Adapter and projector are already
associated with each other upon purchase) for hassle-free, plug and
project operation
-- Onboard Flash driver in the MacBook Adapter contains all the required
drivers and speeds up software installation
-- High speed connectivity that does not load the WiFi network in the
office or at home and does not degrade its performance, for simultaneous
operation and projection of Internet content
-- Wireless audio and video (wireless system supports up to 2048×1152 and
720p video, actual resolution depends on the projector model)
-- Mac Leopard (10.5) and Snow Leopard (10.6) OS support
Supporting Quotes

Stephen John, Product Manager at InFocus:

"We are excited to offer our Wireless DisplayLink system to Mac platforms users and reach additional market segments in which MacBooks are so popular. Since the product launched in August 2009 we've seen a clear demand to support Mac OS and we are pleased that Wisair enhanced its wireless solution to enable it. The additional audio support, together with the ability to control the projector over the wireless link, provides presenters and their audience with a complete audio-visual-control experience, enabled by the UWB wireless technology. To get this experience today users have to use two or three cables and now they can simply plug an adapter into a USB port and get audio, video and control wirelessly. InFocus is determined to continue adding features and capabilities to our Wireless DisplayLink system and intends to closely work with Wisair to define and implement such capabilities as a software update. This will allow our current customers as well as future customers to benefit from those future enhancements."

David Yaish, Wisair President and CEO

"Wisair is committed to continue providing the best and most complete wireless laptop to projector solution. UWB is the most suitable technology for such solutions, enabling video, audio and control transmission with high performance and very low latency. Adding Mac OS support as a software was a natural step to allow InFocus to increase its market share. The solution provides Mac users with a new experience of simple and convenient wireless connectivity that does not exist today even in wired connectivity, for audio, video and control. We are very pleased to work with an innovative leading partner such as InFocus and get clear visibility to the projector market requirements."

Products now available in leading online stores and retail chains

San Jose and Campbell, Calif. - December 16, 2009 - Wisair, a leading vendor of Wireless USB single chip based solutions, announced today that over 10 consumer-electronics vendors are now offering "Wireless Laptop to HDTV" products using its WSR601 CMOS single chip. Enabling users to wirelessly watch any laptop content and any Internet web site on their HDTV, these products capitalize on the hottest Internet usage trends (viewing online video and TV), hottest PC trends (smaller form factor laptops storing personal content) and the popularity of HDTVs, all together creating a huge demand for wireless connectivity between the laptop and the HDTV.

Wisair's customers offering the "Wireless Laptop to HDTV" products include Source R&D (Warpia), Lenexpo (Atlona) and Cables Unlimited in the USA, Olidata, Digicom, XEL (Q-Waves) and More Monitors in Europe. Other customers of Wisair offering additional Wireless USB solution include Fujitsu, Hama and Display Solutions in Europe, InFocus in the USA, Witech in Korea and others soon to be disclosed. Products are now available in leading online stores and retail chains, such as Frys, TigerDirect, Amazon, PC World, Staples, Buy.com, Dell.com, Dixons and others, with price range of $129-$149 (USA), 109-119 Euro (Europe) and 99£ (UK), for a complete "Wireless Laptop to HDTV" set.

Wisair has shipped 300k units of its CMOS single chip in the past year alone and already sees a sharp incline in its order intake for 2010, which is expected to be the booming year for Wireless USB with the "Wireless Laptop to HDTV" connectivity being the clear "killer app".

Internet and PC Usage Trends Call for Wireless Laptop to TV Connectivity:

Internet has become the number one source for video and other types of content. Watching online video outranks many other online activities today (amongst American adults, more than 60% of Internet users watch video online). Television channels, news clips and a myriad of video clips, from pure fun to product user guides, all are available at online popular sites such as YouTube , Hulu, Netflix , BBC iPlayer , Amazon Video , MLB etc'. Recently, for the first time for a show this size, a U2 concert was streamed live online and about 100 million users watched it in its entirety for free on YouTube!

Laptop PCs are more popular than desktop PCs. The market share for laptops is increasing at the expense of desktop PCs.

Laptop PCs screens have become smaller. While mobility is enhanced with smaller-sized laptops/netbooks, it becomes ever harder to watch content for a long period of time or share content with others, due to small screens.

Laptop PCs store personal information. Photos from our digital still cameras, clips from our camcorders - they are all stored in our laptop PCs.

HDTVs have become affordable and very popular. With their digital interfaces, flat TVs, which are now commonly found at homes and offices alike, enable new user experience and displaying of content far beyond traditional TV channels via cable or terrestrial broadcast.

Wireless Laptop to HDTV Product Features

Universal solution - small size PC Adapter connects to a USB port available in all laptops, and A/V Adapter connects to an HDMI port, available in all flat-panel TVs.

Unlimited content - whatever you can display on the laptop screen you can watch on the TV, including ANY Internet web site, online movies, online TV channels, downloaded movies, camcorder clips, personal images, documents, etc.

Display mode that allows viewing different content on your laptop screen and TV screen; continue working while your children watch an online movie or online TV channel.

HD video.

In-room operation (full room coverage, not through walls).

Supporting Quotes:

"Wireless USB is a great technology to address the emerging trend of PC and home theater convergence. The launch of new consumer products based on Wisair's Wireless USB solution by several vendors around the world as well as in leading online stores and retail chains, demonstrates the consumer demand for an easy to use, high data rate, wireless connection. Wireless USB delivers the performance and capabilities required for a new generation of products that allow consumers to extend their PC experience into the living room."

Lisa Arrowsmith, Market Analysts at IMS Research
"The clear trends of how Internet content is consumed by users, the small form factor of laptops and the popularity of flat TVs, call for a convenient, easy to use wireless connection between laptops and TVs. This is where Wireless USB plays a lead role as it allows for such connectivity even with heavy content. Size and cost are low and it operates simultaneously with the wireless home or office network. This is why 'Wireless Laptop to TV' could well be the killer application for Wireless USB. Wisair's Laptop to HDTV solution enables vendors to offer what seems to be one of the coolest products in 2009, with great potential for 2010."

Wisair @ CES 2010

At the coming Consumer Electronics Show (CES, January 7th-10th in Las Vegas), Wisair will demonstrate "Wireless Laptop to HDTV" products that have recently been launched to the market based on its Wireless USB Audio/Video Adapter Set Solution. Wisair will be exhibiting at the Hilton Las Vegas in its hospitality suite #4-106 (located in the north tower).

Atlona Technologies officially releases the new wireless USB to HDMI or VGA adapter, the AT-HDAIR, now with Audio.

PRLog (Press Release) – Nov 16, 2009 – Atlona Technologies has been known for their innovative product lines as well as constantly paving the way for new and updated technology in the AV world. With the introduction of the HDAiR, a wireless USB to HDMI or VGA converter, earlier this year, Atlona has caused quite a stir among computer users looking to integrate their computers into their HD audio video systems. After its release, users from around the world responded to Atlona’s customer survey asking what additional features could make the HDAiR even better. The overall consensus was to add audio support. Atlona has responded by releasing the all new HDAiR with the ability to output audio in both 3.5mm analog, as well as embedded on the HDMI output.
Compatible with both XP, Vista, and Windows 7, this one of a kind device will allow users to connect any USB enabled computer or laptop wirelessly, to any HDTV or projector via VGA or HDMI. This unit wirelessly transmits high resolution signal from a small USB adaptor connected to a computer, to a receiver unit placed next to the display, making it perfect for taking the traditionally personal computing experience and making it a communal experience. Like the older model AT-HDAiR, this newer model with audio still uses chipsets developed by Wisair to transmit USB protocol over Ultra wide band (UWB) frequencies.
The new AT-HDAiR, is capable of extending any computer wirelessly from the display at lengths up to 30ft with HDTV resolutions up to 720p or PC and VESA resolutions at 1440×1050. Both HDMI and VGA output connections are active at the same time, therefore HDAiR receiver could be used to power up 2 displays at the same time with identical content. The latest addition to this wireless adapter is that is now able to output digital audio through the HDMI as well as a 3.5mm stereo jack. With the addition of audio to this new version, the HDAiR is perfect for viewing continuously popular streaming media from HULU or Youtube, as well as computer based leaning programs such as Rosetta Stone or Lynda online training.
With quick and easy installation, the all new HDAiR with Audio opens up a word of possibilities for home, business, and educational users providing a cost effective and convenient solution to integrate PC’s and laptops into HD audio video systems.

Atlona’s all new AT-HDAiR with audio is officially available just in time for the holidays, with an MSRP of $219.00.

Warpia SWP100 Conclusion

The Warpia Wireless USB Display Adapter Set performs as presented by Warpia if the consumer reads the user guide and provided literature. If the user were to simply plug everything in and hope for the best, there would probably be some disappointment. The Adapter Set is sleek, compact, and shiny with no external antenna, what's not to like? The USB end of the PC Adapter is quite fragile but safe handling and a solid plastic casing would solve that problem. Functionally, the Warpia Wireless USB Display Adapter Set performs as advertised with a few minor adjustments. Using the Benchmark Reviews price comparison tool we located the SWP100 model for $129.99 at Amazon. Compared to similar alternatives, Warpia provides a cost effective, quality product that could be used for both personal and business functions without breaking the bank.

Pros:

+ Simple setup and user friendly even for the non-technical user
+ Compact size makes storage easy when traveling
+ Plain language user manual makes it easy to realize the full potential of the product
+ Streamlined driver update function so user has the most current software needed for installation

Cons:

- Questionable construction quality of some components
- Inconsistent video reproduction
- No audio but that would dramatically increase the product price

Ratings:

Presentation: 9.00
Appearance: 9.50
Construction: 8.50
Functionality: 8.00
Value: 9.00
Final Score: 8.8 out of 10.

Quality Recognition: Benchmark Reviews Silver Tachometer Award.

"Wireless USB is a technology which has yet to gain a strong foothold in today's marketplace. I have yet to see many applications of Wireless USB, so I was quite interested in the capabilities of the Warpia Wireless USB Display Adaptor when it arrived...

The bottom half of the package contained a short feature list along with the system requirements. I found this to be nice, as I usually have to break out a magnifying glass and flip the box over and over to find the tiny list of requirements. I also like that they dedicate real estate on the packaging to what's important instead of more marketing blurbs...

Installation was very straight forward. Simply insert the CD and install. I was pleasantly surprised to see a feature on installation that I wish more vendors would use - I was given the option of either installing the driver on the CD, or connecting to the internet and installing the latest driver available. This is always nice as drivers seem to be upgraded on a semi-regular basis and provided drivers are frequently out of date...

"Extend" and "Mirror" modes function as you would expect...

Even almost 6 feet away behind a wall (no line of sight) the movie on the TV suffered NO ill effects...

Retailing at $129.99 shipped, the Warpia Wireless USB Display Adapter is an excellent showcase of an emerging technology...

Overall, the adapter performed excellently with solid throughput of the video content. Build quality was solid and well thought out. With all of the flexible placement options for the adapters, you could tell that much thought went into how the device would be used.

InFocus Wireless DisplayLink Solution Offers the Next Step in Connectivity

WILSONVILLE, Ore. August 13, 2009 - InFocus® Corporation, the industry pioneer in digital projection technology, today unveiled its new wireless solution that eliminates the need to have wired connections between computers and select InFocus projectors. Made possible by a partnership with Wisair, a leading provider of single-chip based wireless USB solutions, the InFocus DisplayLink™ Wireless system allows presenters to easily connect to InFocus DisplayLink-enabled projectors and share HD content on the big screen without wires.
Travelling salespeople and lecturers are no longer bound to projectors by cords; the DisplayLink Wireless connectors allow for easy connectivity from anywhere in the boardroom or lecture hall. With little initial set-up required, the DisplayLink Wireless system is the ultimate in plug-and-project technology. Simply plug in the DisplayLink USB connector and instantly connect with your InFocus projector from distances of up to 30 ft. The new technology allows users to share high quality content and video with their audience at high-bandwidth speeds of 99Mbs net data rate.
"Wisair is very excited to partner with InFocus, a global leader in the digital projection market," noted David Yaish, Wisair's president and CEO. "Wisair's high- performance UWB and Wireless USB single chip and technology integrated with InFocus projectors frees users from cables and enhances their convenience and connectivity options. Users can wirelessly project any content from their laptop, including HD video, graphics and also online video simultaneously, while connected to a WiFi access point for wireless Internet connectivity. They can project any content from anywhere in the room over a robust Wisair-based wireless link. This is an ideal solution for the corporate, education and home segments."
A key feature of the InFocus DisplayLink Wireless solution is the ease of setting the system up. InFocus is using pre-paired adapters, meaning that the PC Adapter and projector are already associated with each other upon purchase. Also, upon initial set-up, an onboard driver in the PC Adapter speeds up software installation. The solution provides peer to peer high speed connectivity that does not load the WiFi network in the office or at home and does not degrade its performance. In addition, the wireless link between the PC and the projector supports the Infocus PC control application, enabling users to control the projector over the wireless link without the need to physically access the projector.
"In working to develop this technology, our major focus was on making the connection between presenter and projector as seamless as possible," said Stephen John, product manager at InFocus. "Before a presentation, the last thing someone wants to hassle with are cords, or possible delay due to A/V equipment not working right. So we made the InFocus DisplayLink Wireless simple: a USB plug and a projector is all you need."
