Wisair announces availability of first industry standard UWB Development Kit

Los Gatos, CA. Tel Aviv, Israel, Tokyo, Japan – November 9, 2004 – Ultra Wide Band(UWB) chipsets and solutions leader - Wisair today announced the release of the first MB-OFDM compliant Ultra Wide Band (UWB) Development Kit - the DV9100. Based on Wisair’s two-chip solution, this small form factor UWB module is available for customers’ product development and for application demonstrations.

The DV9100 Development Kit, released ahead of schedule, comprises of Wisair’s low cost, high bit-rate chipset solution, featuring the recently announced 530 Baseband chip, the 501 SiGe RF chip, and Wisair’s UWB antenna. It also provides the MBOA PHY–MAC, Ethernet and USB 1.1 host interfaces. The DV9100 is Wisair’s second-generation development platform, following the shipment of Evaluation Tool Kits to customers last two quarters. The sleek 6” by 2.4” (15cm by 6cm) module supports short range high speed UWB links, representing the fastest commercial wireless device to conform to MBOA standards, which are accepted by the bulk of the industry.

“With the launch of the first silicon based MBOA compliant DV9100 development platform, Wisair is re defining the playing field in the UWB wireless industry”, said David Yaish, Wisair President and CEO. “The Development Kit, together with our upcoming reference designs, meets our partners’ and customers’ needs for high data rate wireless applications for a broad range of emerging consumer electronics, mobile and PC
products.”

"The launch of the DV9100 is a significant step for the MB-OFDM based UWB ecosystem, as it facilitates technology evaluation and product development. With the recent announcement of their baseband chip, followed by the development of the DV9100, Wisair's technology leadership is once again evident, and will serve to support the UWB-enabled products that we expect to emerge in 2005," according to Joyce
Putscher, director at market research firm In-Stat/MDR.

Wisair is demonstrating this week the DV9100 on a number of applications including; Wireless USB, Wireless HDTV, etc., Wisair products have been developed to support a range of applications while supporting up and coming standards, including; Wireless USB, Wireless IP and Wireless 1394. Consumer Electronics, Mobile and PC peripherals markets are the immediate targets for development for Wisair UWB technology, as the chipset is ideal for products such as remote hard disks, digital media adaptors, camcorders, set-top boxes, digital video recorders, and digital cameras for real time, quality-of-service based multimedia, streaming and bulk transfer of data. Wisair also targets digital home solutions where there is growing consumer demand for the supply of anywhere anytime content.
