Centurylink Router Login Guide

Knowing how to log in to a Centurylink router is essential. It can help you to manually set up the router, configure changes, change WiFi as well as the administrator password, tweak security settings, and so many more things. If you don’t know that, you won’t be able to do these and will rely on the customer support for the tiniest issues. If you have a Centurylink connection, I’d help you with a simple guide to login and configure changes.

I’ll explain everything in the simplest words and brief steps. Just follow the instructions properly and you’ll know the basic workarounds to maintain your router. These small things may help you in a big way sometimes.

Easy Steps to Login to a Centurylink Router

You’ll need your PC or laptop, connected to the router, with working internet to log in. Once you meet the conditions, follow these simple steps to know what you need to do.

Step-1: Connect your PC or Laptop to the router using a wired or wireless connection. Using a wired connection is recommended for security measures. Make sure that the router is turned ON.

Step-2: After that, launch a web browser. You can use any browser like Chrome, Microsoft Edge, etc.

Step-3: Now go to the URL bar and enter 192.168.2.1 in it. “https://” will come automatically. Alternatively, you can enter your router’s default IP address. If you don’t know it, you can find it at the back of your router.

Step-4: You will then see the Centurylink login screen. Enter your current username and password to log in. If you don’t know it, try entering the default username and password. You can find it on a sticker on the modem or from the list below.

Note: You have to enter the router username and password here which is different from your WiFi name and password.

Step-5: Click on Apply and you’ll be in the Admin Panel of Centurylink router. You have successfully logged in.

That’s it. You can now configure changes and settings from the control panel according to the requirements.

Default Admin Usernames and Passwords for Centurylink Router

If you haven’t changed the administrator username and password for your Centurylink router, you can use the default ones to log in to the admin panel. The default login credentials may vary for different models of the router.

Tip: You can find the default username and password on a sticker present on the modem.

Model- Username/Password:

  • -/1234
  • admin/password
  • admin/admin

You can also find the default username and password in the user manual. Or, you can simply google the model number of your router along with default username and password. For example, your search query should be “Model XYZ default username and password.”

How to Factory Reset Centurylink Router?

If you can’t log in to the router even with the default username and password, then the only thing you can do to solve this problem is to perform a factory reset on the router. Factory resetting is a good way to solve a lot of problems like incorrectly configured settings, forgetting passwords, and a defective router. However, it also removes all the saved configurations, settings, and other data, and you have to re-do the setup.

Follow these steps if you want to factory reset your Centurylink router.

Step-1: Find the ‘Reset’ button on at the back of your router. It is a tiny button, usually red or black, that is built in this way to prevent it from being pushed by accident. You’ll have to use a paperclip or hairpin to press it.

Step-2: When you find it, press and hold the ‘Reset’ button for around 15 seconds. To know if you are doing it right, check if you felt a slight click and the power light of the router starts flickering.

Step-3: Wait for 3 to 5 minutes until the router restarts.

That’s it. You have successfully done a factory reset on your router. You can now continue with the activation process to set it up again. If you don’t know about it, you can simply go through the user manual that came in the box. It’ll have all the essential instructions to set up the modem.

How to Change Router Administrator Password?

Once you have set up the router, you can go on with changing the router administrator password. It is the same password that you use to do a Centurylink router login. Follow these steps in order to know how to do that.

Step-1: Firstly, connect your device to a router, open a browser, and enter http://192.168.0.1 in the URL bar. Then, log in using the default username and password like we have mentioned above in this post.

Step-2: Once you are in the Admin Panel, find and click on Advanced Startup.

Step-3: Next, click on Administrator Password present under the Security section on the left side pane.

Step-4: Next, Enable the username and password.

Step-5: Now enter the username and password you want to set. Make sure you note it down somewhere safe else as well, so you can find it even when you forget it.

Step-6: Finally, click on Apply to save the changes.

That’s it. Don’t forget to note down this username and password for future references. After all, forgetting passwords is natural and inevitable.

Final Words

This is how you log in to a Century link router in order to configure changes and tweak settings. There is so much more that you can do by going through the Admin Panel. However, it is recommended that you only do things that you know about well. Or else, you can mess things up. If you are unsure about anything, you can ask using the comment box below. I’ll be up to help every time.

That’s all for this post. I hope you find it helpful. Feel free to comment down your opinions about it.
